The Street Theatre Troup was established in Busan in 1986 by playwright Lee Yoon-taek. It grew into an experimental theater company with a unique theater style centered on the 'Kamagol Small Theater'. In the 1990s, it led a new style of Korean theater performance.
It also built its own acting method based on the Korean Traditional exorcism called ‘Gut’. In 1999, it built a new theater paradigm called 'idealistic drama community' by establishing the Milyang Theater Village. In 2004, it opened the guerrilla theater in Daehangno, Seoul, and set up 30 studios in 2016. Since 2006, it has resumed its activities in Seoul and has been active in Milyang and Seoul. In 2012, it will return to the Busan International Performing Arts Festival (BIPAF) in 5 years after the 9th BIPAF.
