COPS
Clowns struggling to be cops-they’re taking slapstick to the streets.
COPS is the anti-CSI: no high-tech forensics, no legalese jargon, no David Cara so playing peek-a-boo with his shades. However, the endless supply of prime-time cop shows provide more than enough inspiration for this parody, complete with their own “ginger” on cast to give Caruso a run for his money.
Diving head first, (sometimes literally,) into the hardboiled world of law enforcement, Spain’s Catalan Company has created a comedic gem that finds hilarity in some unlikely situations. The episodes throughout, though non-sequiturs they may be, offer endless laughs by having the actors switch to play different sides of the law and even different ends of the theatre! Not only are they responsible for keeping the action going on stage, but behind the scenes as well. The mishaps that ensue are just more opportunities for laughs. Fortunately, an audience member or two can lend a helping hand…when they need someone to take the heat for a crime gone awry! These clowns’ wacky antics turn all audience members into suspects.
COPS is an hour of laughs that reminds us: crime may not pay, but is does make us laugh!
