Anticipation

Based on the style of a traveling theater troupe that goes from village to village
in Korea this show is a resurgence of traditional Korean theater.
Using a wide variety of techniques such as puppets, masks, percussion
and dance the show is a great example of many Korean drama traditions.

It combines modern style with the past.
At one point a puppet of current President Lee, Myung Bak
makes a brief appearance for some political satire.
Virtually a one man show Anticipation is true Korean theater.

Unfortunately for tourists and foreigners the plot is entirely in Korean
and much of the great humor and talent will be lost without translation.

The show is divided into three stories.
The first is of family, the second the unbreakable bond
(and often resentment) of blood and family relations
and the third, the story of a man who runs away from his caste
as the fifth generation of fish mongers to seek his destiny elsewhere.

Anticipation plays on May 6th, 7th and 8th.
