The performance that 20th BIPAF in 2023 won the top prize for "Notable Performance"!
The performance brings to mind Shakespeare's 'Othello'.
What is driving people to despair today?
The play "Drilling" focuses on the "Korean-style sense of inferiority" that people living in Korea left for the unknown world of Antarctica, but still remain deep in people's bones. It is a "polar research institute" that cannot survive without relying on each other in the extreme climate of Antarctica. Through the psychological changes of Korean wintering crews that are still revealed even in limited space, audiences can experience "thinking" and re-reflecting on what is driving us to deep despair today.
Theatre MJB tries to find thresholds in our ordinary lives. The company targets and focuses on leaping over those liminal yet crucial lines that define us with performances on stage.
