Revisiting the world after AlphaGo through performance

The moment when a human and an artificial intelligence first faced each other head-on became more than a match — it became a symbol. Out of five games, the human won only one. Yet that single moment continues to leave us with a question.

In the age of algorithms, where do human judgment and intuition remain?

AlphaGo_Lee: Theory of Sacrifice begins from this question and unfolds on stage how technology quietly enters our choices and everyday lives. Through the overlapping of live performance, digital imagery, video, and installation, the work reflects both the anticipation and the unease surrounding artificial intelligence, while gently revealing the questions of choice and responsibility that lie beneath.

Within the performance, the AlphaGo match is reshaped as both spectacle and ritual. The emotions, relationships, and unseen costs left behind by technological progress surface on stage. As algorithms increasingly make decisions on our behalf, the work poses a quiet but unmistakable question:

What are we giving up in the name of convenience?
