A powerful international production confronting the violence of patriarchy and the complicity of silence
Chosen by audiences in over 100 cities worldwide
Winner of the Shell Theatre Award, APTR Award, and APCA Award
Tom at the Farm has built a strong international reputation through major awards and extensive touring. After performances in over 100 cities across Brazil, the production toured Canada, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, demonstrating its ability to resonate across cultures.
The play explores how violence is sustained through silence.
After the death of someone he loved, the protagonist travels to a rural farm—the deceased’s hometown—to attend the funeral, only to discover that no one is willing to speak the truth and that silence has become the rule.
Through the protagonist’s choice between remaining silent or confronting the truth, Tom at the Farm exposes structures of oppression and power.
Praised by original playwright Michel Marc Bouchard as “one of the most powerful productions of my play,” the work stands as a modern classic that goes far beyond a story of homophobia.
