There were those once called “villains” in fairy tales

the Woodcutter, Patjwi, Byeon Hakdo, the Boy Who Cried Wolf, Nolbu, and even the Grim Reaper.

For a thousand years, they have wandered between the realms of the living and the dead as a traveling troupe named Akssojangdae, performing to make others laugh. The stage is both their punishment and their ritual of atonement.

But were they truly evil?

Who decidedand by what measure?

On the night of their final performance, excuses and regrets flicker behind their masks as a choice stands before them:

Will they end their eternal sentence, or be reborn as humans and begin another wandering?

Vagabond is a physical mask theatre piece that questions the fragile boundary between good and evil.

Through bodies in motion, original music, laughter, and illusion, the stage invites us to imagine the face of the “other”and ultimately confront our own choices.

HADA ART Company is a creative collective that, since its founding in 2016, has developed performances centered on the body, spanning street theatre, promenade theatre, music theatre, and mask theatre. Embracing the body as its primary language, the company brings together what is seen and what is heard in new ways, stimulating both the senses and the intellect of its audience.

Grounded in physical theatre, HADA ART Company has continually explored connections between contemporary sensibilities and Korean emotional and cultural textures, seeking to expand the possibilities of physical theatre in Korea.

Placing collaborative creation at its core, all members freely exchange ideas and develop works through close cooperation. This process is not merely a production method but a driving force behind the company’s artistic practice.

The company’s distinctive performance language, “Body Sync,” reconstructs the sounds of everyday life into music and layers bodily movement over that music to complete the narrative. All music is originally composed, and through scene-based research with performers, sound and movement are built simultaneously.

When refined sound design and precise physical expression interlock organically, the stage language unique to HADA ART Company comes fully into being.
