Grand Prize, Best Director, and Audience Award Winner – Seoul Theater Festival
Struck by a cannonball in war, the Viscount Medardo returns home split clean in half.
What survives is only his right side—pure, absolute evil.
In a fable told by clowns,
he rules his land, and the people slowly grow accustomed to an incomplete sovereign.
Then one day, the missing left half—embodiment of absolute good—returns.
Can a person exist as only good or only evil?
What does it truly mean to be whole?
The Cloven Viscount unfolds through clowning, puppetry, objects, and shadow play,
creating a fantastical stage where the divided human condition reflects our own.
Which half of ourselves are we living with today?

Creative Organization Sungchanpa is a collective founded to present stories about the world we live in and the people within it. It seeks to reveal the emotions, relationships, and social textures of contemporary life on stage.
Refusing to be confined by conventional forms, the company develops new stage languages and strives to reshape the flow of performance with a bold and independent spirit. Rather than remaining within established structures, it chooses to ask questions and unsettle familiar perceptions.
It creates stories and delivers them. It shakes the audience’s thoughts and reconstructs a world on stage that feels both unfamiliar and strangely familiar.
Through art, Creative Organization Sungchanpa reflects reality and seeks to discover new possibilities within its fractures.
