Amidst the struggles of living as a woman in the androcentric society of Korea’s Joseon era, our protagonist seeks revenge for her lost love.
This noblewoman is trying to make her way through the harsh realities of a world that imprisons women in the discrimination of being second-class. The winner of the 2012 Busan Theatre Festival, <Herstory ii Undying Flower> tells the history of her; though set in the past, it is a voice that continues struggling to be heard. There is a corpse seared with a hot iron. Jo Ikyung, a physician of the palace, has suspicions about this death. Choi Youngjin intends to avenge her lover’s wrongful death. This performance describes independent woman by separated by social class. The collaboration of live bands, Korean traditional musical instruments and group dance makes, <Herstory ii Undying Flower>, an engaging and poignant spectacle.
