Park Kyung-ri's epic novel Toji, which has been loved by the entire nation for 50 years, has visited the Busan International Performing Arts Festival!

"Toji," which captures Korea's modern and contemporary history against the backdrop of Hadong, Tongyeong, and Jinju, has been produced as a yard play, a movie, and a drama, but this is the first time it has been made into a theatre.

Reborn as a 21st-century period drama, the play "Toji I" highlights the artistry of the work by combining unique production, rapid stage conversion, and new interpretations of the characters. In addition, the story is naturally told within a limited time, and even audiences who have not seen the original work can watch the play interestingly. Toji I, which captures the beauty of the land and the joys and sorrows of the grass roots, recreates the lyrical image of modern and contemporary Korean rural areas, giving the audience a calm echo.

Produced mainly by artistic director Park Jang-ryul, "Toji I" is a masterpiece involving 36 prominent cast actors and production staffs in Gyeongnam, and is gathering expectations from the audience. In particular, the combination of outstanding stage production, traditional Korean music, and delicious dialect increased the perfection of the play. Toji I, which conveys warm impression as the original, is receiving favorable reviews from the audience, recording full seats in each region where the performance was conducted even in the pandemic.
