Joseon, 1895. The time when the ordinance prohibiting topknots wasn’t given yet.  There is a lot of tension in the royal family.  Japan's leader Samporu pushes King Go-jong to wear a single stroke.

Having decided to follow the pressure, King Go-jong selects vassals from the royal palace to learn barber skill because he couldn’t accept Japanese barber to cut his hair. Vassals Yoon Chan and Kim Jae-shin, both members of the palace, were selected to learn the barber skill from Japanese Tachibana. Cha Pyeong-mu secretely informs Yoon Chan of the danger of causing damage to the king's body, and recommends Jae-shin to the duty of doing the king’s haircut, instead of Yoon Chan.

Jae-shin suffered from fear and the sense of betrayal of his friend. After their last class of barber, where they had cut off each other’s hair, Jae-shin opened his heart to Yoon.

The time went by, and it became 1918, in Gyeongseong.

There, Yoon Chan living in a shadow because he could not escape the past.
