<Gutgeori&Trot> reminds us of one of our greatest resources: the value of older generations, while inspiring citizens to fall in love with their great hometown of Busan all over again.

An old man shares an oral history of modern Busan: building Yeongdo Bridge, the fire at Busan Station, the sad history of the Forty Steps Street. This performance intends to change people’s thinking about older generations and remember the modern history of Busan where nostalgia is equal parts tragedy and triumph. The sounds of Trot music and Korean traditional melody recreate the atmosphere of modern Busan.

Synopsis

An 80-year-old grandfather disappears one morning. Unless he takes medicine for stroke and heart disease, he may be in danger. His family members go out into the streets and begin to look for him. They follow his trail around the sights of Busan’s modern history: Mt. Yongdu Park, the Yeongdo Bridge, Forty Steps Street and Coastal Pier. Visiting these landmarks, he reminisces. Seeking their grandfather, they inadvertently embark on the same tour. As with life, the older generation eventually passes and the memories must be carried by those left behind.
